چکیده

The conception of a degenerative form of nephritis as opposed to the common inflammatory form, whether justified or not, has been the source of many valuable observations on the clinical, chemical and histological aspects of the subject. The term nephrosis " was introduced by Aiiller(l) to indicate the purely degenerative form, and since the degeneration is frequently of the fatty type, the term " lipoid nephrosis " has been use(l by many writers on the subject. It appears, however, that there is no hard and fast line between ordinary glomerulonephritis and nephrosis, and that all combinations of glomerular and vascular inflammation with tubular degeneration may be found. Nevertheless it remains convenient to distinguish a group in w-hich the signs of inflammation are conspicuously small.

L-methionine attenuates gentamicin nephrotoxicity in male Wistar rat: pathological and biochemical findings

The clinical uses of gentamicin have so far been restricted due to nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity. The exact mechanism of nephrotoxicity is still unknown; however, it appears that free radicals may be involved. Methionine has previously been shown to alleviate oxidative stress involved in ototoxicity due to its antioxidant properties. Therefore, the effect of methionine supplementation on the g...

Evaluation of serum and milk amyloid A in some inflammatory diseases of cattle

This study was designed to evaluate serum and milk amyloid A (SAA) as an inflammatory indicator in inflammatory diseases. Twenty clinically healthy cows and 100 cows with various inflammatory diseases were selected for this study. Blood samples were collected from the coccygeal vein of both healthy and diseased groups. Milk samples were taken from four quarters of both groups. Milk samples of f...

Familial Amyloid Polyneuropathy Type IV (FINNISH) with Rapid Clinical Progression in an Iranian Woman: A Case Report

Familial amyloid polyneuropathy (FAP) type IV (FINNISH) is a rare clinical entity with challenging neuropathy and cosmetic deficits. Amyloidosis can affect peripheral sensory, motor, or autonomic nerves. Nerve lesions are induced by deposits of amyloid fibrils and treatment approaches for neuropathy are challenging. Involvement of cranial nerves and atrophy in facial muscles is a real concern i...

P135: The Role of Amyloid Beta-Peptides and Tau Protein in Alzheimer\'s Disease

Alzheimer's desease is the most common age-related neurodegenerative disorder, and cognitive problems such as defects in learning and memory are of its symptoms.  Among the factors involved in the pathogenesis of the disease are biochemical disorders in protein production, oxidative stress, decreased acetylcholine secretion and inflammation of the brain tissue. Extra-neuronal accumulation ...
